About Don Olson - American Antiques and Fine Arts
I focus on exceptional examples of American Antiques and Folk Art, with concentration on colorfully painted pieces and original surfaces from the American Revolution to the mid-19th century. A short hand I like to use is that I seek pieces at the "intersection of early and color".
I am privileged to have customers in almost 30 states, including collectors, dealers, and museums. I strive to treat each customer as a special colleague as we share a passion for the early material culture of America. My inventory typically includes noteworthy examples of American folk paintings, portrait miniatures, paint decorated woodenware, gameboards, trade signs, weathervanes, painted furniture and other colorful folk art and antiques.
I am a member of the Antiques The Antiques Dealers' Association of America, Inc. (ADA). Membership is composed of professional antiques dealers who are dedicated to integrity, honesty and ethical conduct in the antiques trade. I am also a member of the NHADA, and the VADA.
I Buy American Antiques and Folk Art!
I you are considering selling pieces similar to the quality, condition, and period of those that I offer, please contact me. I am always interested in acquiring new material!
I have built a strong reputation for honest and professional dealings with my customers and colleagues. I am known for describing my offerings in detail, as I believe that my role transcends buying and selling to helping communicate to future generations why these pieces of early Americana are important and worth preserving indefinitely. I rarely have any issues with my clients being pleased. However, just in case, below please find my sales policies:
A retail buyer may return a non-layaway piece to me for any reason for full refund if I have been contacted within three days of the purchaser receiving it. After this three day period, all sales are final. Refunds are given after the piece has been examined by me to be in the same condition in which it was sold. I do not pay the cost of shipping a piece back to me, unless the cause of return was that my description was found to be meaningfully inaccurate.
A purchase from a dealer or decorator (who is purchasing a piece for resale) is only returnable if I made a meaningful error in my description.
Many of my customers purchase pieces over time. I am most happy to offer this service, all I ask is that once we have agreed terms, please stick with them. Virtually all of the pieces I offer for sale I have significant investment in, and I do not have the financial means to hold pieces indefinitely waiting for payment.
Layaway Terms: I usually suggest 1/3 down payment, then 1/3 the next month, and the final 1/3 in the third month, yet I am open to your suggestions. All layaway payments are NON-REFUNDABLE. I do not ship a piece until payment has been made IN FULL.
