'Polkadots on Earthy Forest Green'
New England, ca. 1825. Stoutly made from what appears to be basswood. Original dry paint with a dark green ground imaginatively freehand decorated with daubs of white, mustard yellow, and salmon. Salmon circles and mustard lines border the opening. Inner dust barrier. No restoration. Small wood loss upper right corner. Retains original hinges, hasp, and lock. About 13 ½ inches long x 7 ½ deep x 8 ½ tall. Long time private collection from Judy Lennett, Ridgefield, CT.
