Boldly Paint Decorated Dome Top Box

New England, probably Vermont/New Hampshire/Maine, ca. 1820-1840. Original ochre paint decoration with sponge or rag on basswood and pine. One of the nicer examples one will find, very clean interior, terrific structural condition, original hinges, hasp, lock, and keeper, dust liner, dovetailed case. Superb paint coverage with very fine craquelure. About 18 inches long x 10 deep x 8 3/4 high. Attractive and very functional for storage. Private New England collection
