 America, ca. 19th century to early 20th. Polychrome ink on paper, mounted on card. Written on the back: “AN INTURPRETATION (sic) OF AN EARLY INDIAN OF THE AMERICAN EAGLE. ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IN THE 1930S ON A WESTERN U. S. VISIT + GIVEN TO PAUL MACALISTER FOR HIS EAGLE COLLECTION 1453 LAKE BLUFF IL……An American Indian’s remarkable early rendition of our national emblem…compliments of Margaret McClure (Hand-writ in corner: VERY RARE/P. MAC.A…..frame in black paint about 6 ½ inches wide x 5 5/8 tall. Provenance: Important Massachusetts collection.
