Shaker Box in Black Paint

American, ca. mid 19th century.

Original black paint on maple side walls and white pine top and bottom. Joinery by copper nails. Fingers finely cut with chamfered edges. Often used wear to the paint as shown, dings to the lid, structurally excellent.

About 9 1/8 inches x 6 deep x 3 ½ tall.

Pencil inscription under the lid reads, in part ,“Love is ___fair Brockport N.Y. H_____”
