Unique EFFIGY Hooked Rug 'Hooking Tool' 

American, 19th century, in what appears to be figured maple.
The handle terminates in a carved human effigy, the opposite end in a harpoon-shaped hook. Fitted into a custom little iron mount.

Overall about 6 inches tall when mounted. Provenance includes the great NYC woodenware and folk art collector Peter Brams; Leigh Keno Auctions (2011); and a New York State collection.
