Rare Ash Burl
Wine Funnel
Northeast, ca. 1780.
Pictured in North American Burl Treen

Quoting from Steve Powers in NABT: “I know of just a few burl funnels. This is a fine example retaining its original surface and red wine stained bowl. Though it has a fair amount of edge wear and a good sized chip to the rim, these faults should not be held against it, as the wear is honest and period to its use and does not adversely effect (sic) the aesthetics of the piece.”

About 4 1/8 inches diameter x 3 tall.

Provenance: Private Southern collection; Steve Powers, Hollis Brodrick (Portsmouth, NH). Pictured NORTH AMERICAN BURL TREEN, Steve Powers, page 47.
